Vacant is best known for pioneering popup retailing. Our concept store in NY put popup retailing on the radar of advertising agencies and major brand marketing departments. We developed the concept after a business trip to Tokyo and was intrigued how consumers would essentially line up to purchase limited edition products. Once the products were sold out, usually within a matter of hours, the store would be closed until the owner received more product and then reopen the store again. This led us to think about closing the store permanently after the merchandise has been sold, and moving it to another targeted destination, since consumers were travelling to the store simply to purchase an item.

We continue to develop concepts for retail, our latest patented flexible concept for airports and hotels, planeshop™ and hotelshop™ bring rotating retail to a permanent space. Brands rotate within the airport or hotel providing the business or regular customer a new experience every time they visit the airport.

Vacant specializes in popup and flexible retailing, location of targeted real estate, including moving tenants out from properties for a limited time, and custom interiors and construction, interior design, rendering interiors, global location services, and logistics including staffing and creative services.

We drive interaction to brands through interactive technology providing floor, window and projection mapping allowing for video and still objects to be displayed on multiple surfaces, and for technology, through our partners we build experiences for popup retail and events. We develop custom applications using the following technologies. iOS, Android, FBML(Facebook Markup Language), Java, SMS targeted applications, Mobile technologies, Cloud Hosting and music Cloud hosting, Facebook integration, Mashup of GPS based applications to link with Foursquare and Gowalla networks, affiliate marketing.

We also have manufacturing partners for product development and provide popup real estate services throughout China, Tokyo, South Korea, Indonesia and Australia.
